A WOMAN has been admitted to hospital after her car was hit by a train in Orihuela on the Cercanias Alicante-Murcia line. The car was stationed at a level crossing in the district of Media Legua on Monday afternoon. Her state of health is unknown but she remains conscious after being taken to Hospital Vega Baja by ambulance.The driver was apparently unaware of the approaching train until it collided with the car. The force of the impact then catapulted the vehicle several metres forward.A passenger on the train recalls that she felt the car hit the train and saw it being thrown towards the side of the tracks. The train driver managed to brake, stopping a few metres in front before getting out to help the car’s occupant.After the accident, the train had to return to Callosa de Segura station due to damage sustained to the driver’s cabin. Passengers were then transferred to the city of Murcia.
