Lightning kills walker using selfie stick in Brecon Beacons

A SUDDEN storm claimed the lives of two hill-walkers and injured several others as they were struck by lightning while enjoying a day out in the Brecon Beacons.
One walker, a man in his 50s, died when he was struck while brandishing a selfie stick. Emergency workers say the man had been standing at the top of a hill, waiting for his fellow walkers, and was holding up the selfie stick when the incident happened.
In a separate incident in the Brecons, another man was fatally injured due to the storm, and other walkers were also hurt.
The selfie stick, which is a metal extendable pole that holds a camera or phone, has been banned by various museums and other public places. In June, after an incident on a roller-coaster in a California theme park, Disney announced they were banning them as a security measure.
