Female Islamic State suspect detained in Canary Islands

SPANISH Police have arrested a woman suspected of recruiting for the terror group Islamic State (IS) in Arrecife on Lanzarote. According to the Interior Ministry, the woman, originally from Cadiz, recruited girls and teenagers via Syrian contacts and then made travel arrangements for them to travel to Syria to areas controlled by IS.
It’s believed the female suspect, who apparently converted to Islam, was radicalised via social media and wished to collaborate with the terror group. Police sources say that she had convinced up to a dozen young women to travel to the region, who were then exploited as sex slaves for Islamist terrorists.
The arrest is a result of another police operation between August and December 2014 carried out against the terror group in which 10 people were arrested in Melilla, including a minor arrested with another woman on route to Morocco.
