VISITS to Lorca are up so far this year, possibly due to promotional campaigns and the recovery of heritage sites following the earthquakes.
Lorca, Taller del Tiempo, the consortium that manages tourist and cultural sites linked to La Fortaleza del Sol theme park, reported that ticket sales were up 11 per cent over the first five months of the year compared to the same period in 2014.
Tourism Councillor Francisco Montiel said more than 31,275 visitors were registered between January and May, and the castle, synagogue, Jewish quarter, Guevara palace and tourist train were attracting the most tourists.
