Four drown in Spain over weekend

IN two deadly days in the water, two people drowned in separate incidents in Nijar, Almeria with a further two drownings in other parts of Spain.
On Saturday July 4, a 40-year-old man drowned in the Isla del Moro area after the strong Levante wind swept him into deep water and he was unable to return to shore. The man, who lived in Almeria’s Piedras Redondas district, was found by volunteers from Nijar’s Civil Protection.
A 59-year-old woman also died the same day, after she had been rescued by helicopter from the Cala del Plomo.
On Sunday, two emergency calls resulted in two more people rescued from drowning in Nijar.
Elsewhere in Spain, in the Argar River, Huarte, Navarra, and Aranjuez, Madrid, two more people died after drowning.
