A HISTORIC, cultural and picturesque setting complete with fresh, foamy, cold beer and a variety of international and local dishes… this is Fuengirola’s Oktoberfest with a touch of Spanish flavour!
The eighth annual festival offers guests five different types of beer, from the light pilsner and hearty wheat to thick dark brews and even an alcohol-free option. Expatriates visiting the festival can sample local beers as well as throw back tried and true favourites from Germany and Belgium.
This free event is a festive occasion in which the unique flavours of the Mediterranean are united, from its Arabic past to the ever-increasing influence of its expatriates. Organiser Sandra Sierra Morales wishes everyone a warm welcome to Oktoberfest, where visitors can cool down with a frosty beer, feast on Spanish and German food and enjoy nearly three weeks of themed parties. They even have a children’s area for the little ones to play while thirsty parents sit and chat or dance away the sultry summer nights.
Sierra, who organises Oktoberfest events at the national level, compares her festival to the German original, pointing out that they offer many of the same brews, just at lower prices, as well as live music – bring on the Polka!
The festival starts Friday July 3 and ends July 19. Guests are invited to visit anytime Monday through Saturday from 7pm to 2am and on Sundays from noon to 2am.
