A 70-YEAR-OLD man could spend 16 months in prison for allegedly attacking a doctor in a Velez-Malaga outpatient’s clinic.
The events took place on June 26 at the Velez Sur clinic. Authorities said in a statement the man had taken part in a brawl at a local bar, breaking several pieces of furniture and allegedly injuring the owner in his stomach with a blunt object. Damages were priced at €688.
The suspect, who does not have a criminal record, then attended the hospital to be treated for his own injures and asked a document to report them to the police.
He allegedly asked the doctor who assisted him to report more injures than he actually presented. When he refused, it’s claimed the accused insulted him and attacked him with a stethoscope.
The prosecution case maintains that the elderly man committed crimes of assault and causing injury, and has also requested compensation be paid to the bar owner, a waiter and the doctor.
