BUSINESS owners in the Balearic Islands are facing the upcoming sale season with a positive mindset.
A report created by the Balearic Islands Traders and Business Owners Federation (Afedeco), showed relative optimism, with the expectation that this season will register higher results than in 2014, with an estimated increase in sales by four per cent.
Afedeco said in a statement that discounts would be set at between 30 and 40 per cent during the initial stages of the season, reaching 50 per cent towards the end.
Even though traders are now allowed to start the sale season when they deem it appropriate, most of them will stick to the traditional kick off on July 1, as they “want to maintain the original concept of sales,” according to Afedeco.
They also explained that the confidence of customers had shown a historic high and together with the slow, positive trend registered in the unemployment rate, it was expected that families would be able to spend more this summer.
