La Herradura and Almuñecar kick off summer

SUMMER officially begun in Almuñecar and La Herradura at the weekend with great tourism and hotel occupancy results.
The town and district registered the first ‘big weekend’ of this year’s summer season, with thousands of beach-goers encouraged by the great weather. They were able to enjoy the town’s beaches as they have undergone comprehensive cleaning works after the San Juan celebrations.
The great attendance could be seen across the Velilla Puerta del Mar – Fuentepeidra, San Cristobal and La Herradura beaches.
Diving clubs from the area, the Costa Tropical and Costa del Sol were overflowing with clients wanting to experience the famous seabed in Punta de la Mona and Cerro Gordo, were the water’s visibility was excellent.
Many other visitors were able to carry out other water sports such as kayaking, paddle-surf, riding jet skis and sailing on the boats based at the town’s Marina del Este marina, which registered a great number of visitors.
