La Viña’s pylon plight continues

LA VIÑA residents in Lorca are up in arms over the fact that a high-voltage electricity pylon has still not been moved away from their homes.
The pylon is right in the middle of Calle Tejedores and causes traffic chaos, socialist councillor Diego Jose Mateos has explained, especially when the weekly market is held on the main street.
Mateos said that both the local and the regional council had promised locals that the problem, one of the ones La Viña residents express the most worry over, would be solved, yet work in the area was finished and nothing was said or done about the pylon.
“Something needs to be done about the dangerous situation before an accident happens. We can’t let time pass and then take measures when it’s too late,” Mateos said.
Meanwhile the Public Works Department said that as the measure was not included in the original work project it had had to be modified and approval was pending, and promised that the pylon would be moved.
