Illegal adoption plan foiled in Malaga

POLICE in Malaga have arrested a couple who allegedly attempted to illegally adopt a newborn girl, and her mother has been charged for faking paternity documents.
The baby was taken into care as her mother, who had already lost the custody of another two children, was not considered capable of looking after her, and proceedings began to try and see whether her father could take her in.
Yet police investigators discovered that the biological mother and the would-be father had lied on documents by stating he was the baby’s father, which was not the case, after two people acting as go-betweens, who have also been arrested, thought up the plot.
The couple, who lived in another part of the country but came on frequent visits to see the baby at the shelter, allegedly intended to take over custody as her father and step-mother to avoid going through the adoption process.
