Boy dies in tragic end to Murcia waterpark charity trip

AN EIGHT-year-old boy died at an aquapark in Murcia yesterday (June 24), emergency services and Caritas charity have confirmed.
The Moroccan boy was one of a large group on an outing to the park to celebrate the end of the school year, arranged by Caritas groups from the La Paz, Santa Maria de Gracia, Puente Tocinos, San Francisco Javier and San Antolin parishes, the charity explained.
The boy was removed unconscious from a pool by lifeguards, who spotted him floating face down in the water, but after almost an hour of attempts to revive him by park medical staff, two doctors who were also there at the time, and ambulance staff, he sadly died.
Caritas has placed its services and support at the disposal of the family at this tragic time.
The case, the first in the nine years the park has been open in the region, was the second in just a few days, following that of a teenager who drowned at another aquapark in Villafranco de Cordoba on Monday.
