A MAN has been jailed for a year and a half for insulting a Guardia Civil officer and hitting him with his car in Almeria City.
The 39-year-old Moroccan man, who is currently doing time at Albolote jail in Granada for another crime, was found guilty and sentenced to 18 months in jail, fines of €12 per day for 12 months and €150 in damages for the victim.
Although the policeman was also facing charges for causing injuries, the judge let him off after hearing three witnesses declare that the officer had not hurt his attacker, who drove his car straight at him, injuring his right shoulder, after an argument on Calle Arte de Arcos in Almeria City on August 9, 2012.
The man was also found to have been driving without a licence, leading to a further fine of €12 per day for another 12 months.
