NEGOTIATIONS between the local government of Velez-Malaga and a transport company have started with the goal of bringing the famous tram service back to town.
A statement released by the council announced that Mayor Antonio Moreno Ferrer and company Recfer Recursos Ferroviarios, led by Marcelo Gavira, have begun talks to make the tram run again after a three-year hiatus. The company has worked on the Barcelona high-speed train AVE, the Sevilla tram and constructed infrastructure for the Lerida-La Pobla tramline.
“We believe the tram to be an ecological transport service, in accordance with the kind of town we want to build,” said the mayor.
