WATER LEVELS: Gradually being replaced by a Department of Environment pump.
CALPE Council is happy to report that the Las Salinas de Calpe, the protected wetland that is home to dozens of bird species including hundreds of beautiful flamingos, is now recovering its water levels due to the services of a pump installed by the Municipal Department of the Environment.The birds are now in full breeding season and are in perfect condition. The department’s recommendation was to replenish the water levels gradually to cause least disturbance to the marine species and bird population.The conditions of salinity and oxygen in the water is measured daily by the municipality to ensure a gentle and effective recovery of the popular beauty spot.
