Javea playground drug shame

LOCAL RESIDENTS of Javea have been shocked to learn that two homeless people have been allegedly injecting drugs in broad daylight at a children’s public playground in a popular area of the town.
A homeless couple, a man and a woman accompanied by their two dogs, have been using the children’s playground at calle Amsterdam, next door to the L’Arenal public college, to sleep rough.
Concerned residents reportedly saw the pair injecting drugs beneath the playground slide early in the morning on Saturday June 20.
The Euro Weekly News visited the playground and witnessed the couple staggering along calle Niza in a dazed manner. On closer inspection of the playground, plenty of evidence of drug taking was found – a quantity of discarded aluminium foil and several ice lolly sticks with signs of burning.
The park and especially the play area is a popular recreation spot with tourists and local residents. And older children often visit the playground unaccompanied by an adult.
Several reports have been made to Javea’s local police.
