HUERCALIDA: Standing room only for opening festival
HUERCAL-OVERA recently inaugurated its summer schedule of cultural events, Huercalida, with an Intergenerational Folklore Festival. The display in the Plaza de la Constitucion began with pupils from the Huercal-Overa Municipal School of Dancing who were followed by the Third Age Music and Dancing Workshop and the Virgen de las Huertas folklore group from Lorca in neighbouring Murcia.“Once again we are taking culture into the streets of the town and its outlying districts,” said Culture councillor Antonio Lazaro.“We shall be reaching all members of public, from the elderly to the very young, with free events in the town’s squares and streets. We want to decentralise activities, taking them to every corner of the town,” Lazaro explained.
