THE National Police are investigating a second attempted kidnapping of a child in the Benidorm area. A local family has reported that their 13-year-old son was chased down a street by a man who tried to engage him in conversation not ten minutes from his school in the Foietes area.

The incident occurred at around 1.30pm on Thursday June 18 near the Vasco Nunez de Balboa and Aitana and Bautista Lledó schools. The circumstances were described as very similar to those of a previous attempted abduction of another child, a 12-year-old girl, on Thursday June 11 near her school in La Cala.

The news of a second incident of attempted abduction in the Benidorm area triggered a number of comments on social networks from concerned parents, warning others to step up security with regard to getting their children to and from school.
Police continue to investigate the facts surrounding the two cases.
