Man arrested for assault on pregnant woman who lost her child

KEVIN WILSON, a 20-year-old man from south-east London, has been arrested and charged with child destruction and causing grievous bodily harm following an attack on a pregnant woman on Monday evening.
Wilson, from the Longfield estate in Bermondsey, is due to appear in court later in connection with the attack on a 21-year-old woman who was heavily pregnant and lost the baby as a result.
The awful incident, which occurred at around 8pm local time on Monday evening, was apparently made worse due to the fact that, although an ambulance was called at 8.16pm it never arrived.
The London Ambulance Service apologised for the fact that no ambulance reached her and said the first 999 call, made by a member of the public, had been assessed as a “lower priority call.”
After waiting more than an hour for the non-existent ambulance, she was eventually taken to hospital by police, but unfortunately lost her baby in the small hours of Tuesday morning.
Wilson will appear before Camberwell Green Magistrates Court to answer the charges. The charge of child destruction is under the Infant Life (Preservation) Act 1929.
