HM Customs make cocaine arrest at frontier

HM CUSTOMS have said they arrested a man attempting to walk into Gibraltar from Spain carrying cocaine.
The customs officers announced yesterday (June 17) that they had stopped a 25-year-old local male resident as he tried to cross the border from Spain at the pedestrian channel.
Following a search of the man, officers found four wrappers concealed inside a greeting card. These contained a white powder that later tested positive as cocaine, and had a weight of approximately two grammes.
The person was arrested and bailed to be charged at a later date.
HM Customs said that this arrest was the latest in a string of detections following the deployment of new officers after the completion of their training, and was indicative of the positive value that the recruitment process was having across the various expanding sections of the service.
