‘HD’ phone calls arrive in the Islands

THE high-definition voice service via mobile phone devices has been introduced in the Balearic Islands for Movistar users.
In the last month, telephone company Telefonica has finished setting up digital decoders in all its network stations.
The main advantages are lower distortions in the audio and a higher sound quality.
The system works by isolating the voice from external noises, using filters that select only the human voice frequencies (between 80hz and 14hz), dismissing the rest.
HD voice or wideband audio services are compatible with practically 100 per cent of 3G and 4G phones.
