Bumper bookings

Early booking for hotels on the Costa Blanca are fostering a strong sense of optimism for a good summer season amongst the tourism industry.
Deputy Minister for Tourism, Joaquin Albaladejo, said: “There is a real sense of optimism, like that of 2014 which ended with record figures.”
This year there is hope that those figures will be further improved on.
Albaladejo said the tourist Board will focus their summer campaign at the national and British markets, which is particularly strong and seeing an increase in bookings thanks to the currency exchange rate, with British holidaymakers getting more euros for their pounds.
The Tourist Board plans to strengthen their brand awareness as both a coastal and inland destination under the campaign slogan of ‘live, practise, share.’
The campaign, costing €200,000, will run throughout June, July and August and is working with the tourism sector across the Costa Blanca to improve the hotel occupancy rates of 2014, which in many areas, exceeded 90 per cent in August.
Nationally, the campaign will be focused in Madrid, Valencia and Albacete with media advertisements and in the UK the campaign will include adverts and images of the region on broadcast screens in shopping areas in cities such as Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool: “We opted to focus on the north of the UK because we believe that is the area we will report higher profits.”
This summer, the use of social media will continue with experiences, activities and news also on the tuplan.costablanca.org website.
