Tarifa hosts eighth annual Couchsurfing event

FROM all over the Costa del Sol, locals and expatriates alike will meet up this weekend at the pristine beaches of Valdevaqueros in Tarifa to swap travel stories, soak up the sun and share a memorable experience. The Couchsurfing (CS) event, which lasts from Friday to Sunday June 19-21, offers visitors the chance to explore the undeveloped, wild beaches of Tarifa and meet people from around the world.
The event has grown each year and hundreds of participants are expected this weekend. Couchsurfers will stay in the Valdevaqueros camp grounds and can choose to participate in any of the activities planned, including picnics, yoga, hiking, parties, concerts and sports.
As a CS event, participants are particularly inquisitive, adventurous and open-minded. Couchsurfing allows travellers to stay with local people in the countries they visit, for a more genuine, and cheaper, experience, while hosts get the chance to share their homes with people from all over the world.
The CS motto encourages people to make real connections – while abroad or when back home – and to foster cultural exchange and mutual respect. The CS community, according to its founders, is a global network of 10 million people in more than 200,000 cities, connecting people in a profound and meaningful way for a truly social experience.
