TWO stowaways from Maghreb were rescued on Thursday (June 11) off the coasts of Motril after they jumped into the water from a motorboat from Melilla.National Police explained in a statement that the rescue operations took place when the boat was leaving for Morocco, so it is possible that the two migrants had been hiding in the boat since Wednesday. When the boat was departing, the two men jumped into the water in neoprene suits to protect themselves from the low temperature. They were found by the Red Cross rescue boat in the area of La Azucenas inner harbour. The two migrants have been taken into custody and are expected to be returned to their home countries shortly.
