Going that extra smile

CENTRO DENTAL: Dr Schilderoth and his staff.

PREVENTION is better than cure and in the case of dentistry it can also reduce the costs and the amount of treatment required.
Many people dread the thought of visiting the dentist, perhaps due to a painful experience when they were young. Dr Gert Schilderoth and the team at Centro Dental, who have been treating patients on the Costa Blanca for 12 years, are determined that anyone who visits them will experience pain free treatment.
Dr Schilderoth said: “We understand that for some people a visit to the dentist can be the last thing they want. Here at Centro Dental we have created a tranquil environment to try and make sure that patients feel calm as soon as they enter the surgery.”
The dental practice has used a holistic ambience in its decor that gives it the feel of a contemporary art space rather than a dental surgery. Prior to any work being carried out there will be a consultation. This is to understand what the patient needs and what Dr Schilderoth advises. There are usually many options and through the consultation the patient will be advised about the effects of all the procedures and the cost.
Dr Schilderoth continued: “It is essential for good oral hygiene that a patient has regular check-ups. These can produce a dramatic reduction in the treatment required and in lots of cases we can advise on an issue and deal with it before any serious treatment is necessary.”
The other issue that people worry about is the cost of dental work. There are two ways to keep costs down. The first is to have regular check-ups to prevent issues before they require surgical treatment. The second is to visit Centro Dental as they are committed to providing dental services at reasonable rates.
Centro Dental offers a total dental service. They have seen a massive increase in people coming in for cosmetic work to correct imperfections in their teeth. They can provide veneers, smile design, teeth restructuring, night guards and of course can clean and whiten your teeth.
One area of dentistry that Dr Schilderoth often encounters is that of ill fitting dentures. It is common for people to ignore minor discomfort and carry on regardless, but this will only present a more serious issue later on. Dentures that move when eating, or dislodge when talking, can result in poorly chewed food, which is hard for the stomach to process, or embarrassing situations when in company.
Dr Schilderoth said that seating dentures correctly was a very simple process and often the original denture can be used within the new formation.
So for a smile to be proud of Centro Dental are the people to see.
