Seafront works should end flooding

WORK underway to improve drainage and sewage lines on Carvajal seafront should be ready shortly, Fuengirola mayor Ana Mula has announced.
Sewage pipes have been removed from the beach, and new ones are being placed under the seafront promenade coinciding with renovation work on the stretch between El Bote and the AECC offices, and should be ready by mid-July.
The mayor explained that sewage collected by the new system will be sent to the Mijas treatment plant, where a pioneer system recycles the water for use on golf courses.
The work is also expected to end the area’s flooding problems as a sophisticated new drainage system is being put into place.
