FOLLOWING the recent launch of two weekly flights between St Petersburg and Malaga-Costa del Sol, a group of Russian journalists have been on a visit to discover Malaga City’s attractions.
Organised by Vueling airline, the Spanish Tourism Office in Moscow and Malaga Council’s Tourism Department, the familiarisation trip included visits to the city’s historical centre, the cathedral, the Alcazaba, the Roman Theatre, the Picasso Malaga, Carmen Thyssen, Russian State Art, Pompidou and automobile museums, the Arab baths and the fishing area of Pedregalejo.
Although other destinations have seen drops in visits from Russia since the Ukrainian conflict began, Malaga-Costa del Sol airport registered a total of 9,746 passengers from the country in the first three months of this year, a 9.4 per cent increase on the same period in 2014.
