THE healthcare department of Malaga-Axarquia is giving practical training to diabetic patients and their families on the proper treatment of this condition.
Awareness and proper monitoring of the illness is fundamental to prevent complications, such as circulatory and heart diseases, vision impairment or kidney failure, as well as nervous system issues, according to the health staff in charge of the course.
During the workshops, patients and relatives learn the appropriate way to use insulin shots, are kept informed of new treatments and advances in the research of the illness and get to know other patients and share their experiences.
These courses are led by professionals from the Clinic Management Unit (UGC) of the Axarquia Regional Hospital, between 4pm and 6pm, every first Tuesday of each month at the hospital’s training room.
“With this activity, the UGC aims to raise awareness on the importance of preventing an illness so widely spread, and following recommendations from experts which will improve the quality of life of those who already suffer from it,” said coordinator of the course, Francisco Rodriguez.
