NEW MARKET: gastronomy corner to be opened in the S'Escorxador facilities

FOOD lovers in Mallorca will soon have the chance to taste the best delicacies at Palma’s permanent San Juan Gastronomy Market.
The new market, which is located at the S’Escorxador old brewery, will be inaugurated on June 19 with an evening celebration.
From Saturday (June 20) the 18 stands distributed in the 1,300 square metres area will be open between noon and midnight, and will offer a great variety of products.
Renowned cooks such as Jaume Comas (Xino’s Restaurant) or Raul Lopez (Lo + Catering), will have a place in the new market. In the desserts area, participants will be able to try sweets made at the Santa Catalina La Madeleine de Proust bakery, amongst others.
“We want to offer a pleasant space to have breakfast, go for beers, have snacks or lunch or an after-work drink and learn how to cook while you are at it,” said general director of the event, Maria del Mar Rubi, who explained that a part of the market would be used to host cooking courses and workshops.
The market is expected to be opened 365 days per year and has seen a total of €2.4 million invested from private sources.
