THE Balearic Islands Family Policies Institute (IPFB) has warned of an increase in sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) in the Balearic Islands.
Specifically, the transmission of gonorrhoea has increased by 26.9 per cent if compared with 2013, while syphilis has seen a reduction of 32.2 per cent.
In five years, gonnococcal infections (gonorrhoea) have increased by 842 per cent, going from 21 in 2010 to 198 in 2014.
For the IPFB, this represents a failure of prevention campaigns and sexual education on the islands.
