All the fun of the fair in Frigiliana

FRIGILIANA is holding important festivities, days for tradition with activities designed for residents and visitors of all ages.
Events started yesterday (Wednesday, June 10), with the election of the Child Queen of the Fair, complete with a performance of Spanish TV show the Voice Kids ‘El Balilla’.
The official inauguration of celebrations will take place today, with a gala to crown the fair’s king and queen at 10pm in the municipal ‘caseta’.
On Friday 12, the ‘caseta’ will offer a wide variety of traditional dances, live music performances and flamenco shows, starting at 1pm. Groups such as Nueva Imagen and The SuperSingles will entertain the crowds from 11pm onwards, on the eve of the pilgrimage (romeria) in honour of the patron saint, San Antonio de Padua.
The ‘romeria’ will start on Saturday at 11am with Mass and the participation of a traditional flamenco choir, and at 12pm approximately, pilgrims will start their journey towards the Higueron River.
On Sunday, Frigiliana will host its second ‘Carrera de Autos Locos’ (Crazy Car Race), at 12pm, departing from Calle Real. In the race, handmade cars crafted by residents with fun designs will compete against each other, overcoming obstacles for prizes of up to €250.
The fireworks’ spectacle will mark the end of festivities on Sunday at midnight.
The complete programme of activities can be found at http://www.frigiliana.es/.
