Two Spanish climbers found dead six weeks after Nepal earthquake

POLICE found this Saturday (June 6) in the Langtang Valley of Nepal the bodies of 53 victims of the earthquake which took place in April, amongst which were two Spaniards.

Satendra Yadav, deputy inspector of the Rasuwa district, said that the two Spanish mountain climbers were a man and a woman whose bodies will be shortly taken to Katmandu by helicopter.

“We are working to find more details about the victims,” said Mr Yadav, who explained that the bodies were found in an area where more than 150 are believed to have been buried by a landslide following April’s earthquake.

Authorities estimate that the death toll of this earthquake together with its aftershock occurred on May 11 now amounts to 8,712 dead and 22,220 injured.
