JOSÉ MARÍA MORAL: Took the trophy home after winning the first part of the championships.
SUNDAY in Benahavis was the venue for the Andalucian Trials championships, one of the classic calendar events that marks the halfway point of the season. As always, the organisation ensured that all levels and ages enjoyed a great day of dexterous competition. The various zones saw skilled riders aging from seven to 70, tackle the obstacles under the all-seeing eyes of the scrutineers. José María Moral, Number 6, took the trophy home after winning the first part of the Championships dramatically by dominating all five tests to prove himself the strongest rider in the premier class. Second place went to number seven, Malaga’s Antonio Barrionuevo, a great achievement for this young rider who saw his first podium this year. Córdoba born Joaquín Salcedo, took third place just two points behind Antonio. The Championship Trials will now take a deserved vacation until October.
