FOLLOWING last year’s success the Great Kon-Tiki Raft Race is back for a second year on June 21.The event is organised with the collaboration of Pulpi Town Hall and there is a €10 entry fee. All proceeds go to the local charity San Animal, which saves and re-homes abandoned dogs and cats.The organisers ask potential participants to observe the following rules:Rafts may have a crew of two, three or four members.Only recyclable, non-maritime materials may be used in constructing the raft.All participants must be able swimmers.Rafts may be no greater than two metres x four metres in size.Rafts should be taken away after the event.No physical contact between participants is allowed.There will be prizes for winning teams and also for the most original construction.There will be a junior event for ages 12 -16 years and a senior event for 17 years and over.Competitors meet at 12noon on June 21 at Playa de la Mar Serena in San Juan de los Terreros.Sponsorship forms are available.
