Countdown to Miss Gibraltar 2015

WINNER: Kaiane Aldorino went on to be crowned Miss World 2009.

JULY 4 will see the Miss Gibraltar 2015 Pageant take place, as the Gibraltar Cultural Services launch this year’s contest to find a young woman to represent the rock.
Young ladies were invited to sign up to the pageant earlier this year, and now that the 12 gorgeous Gibraltarians have received their numbers, it’s all systems go!
With the competition’s pedigree stretching back nearly half a century, winning Miss Gibraltar could be the ticket to Miss World.
THE first ever Miss Gibraltar contest was staged in 1959. The winner at that momentous event was Miss Viola Abudarham, even though she was married. In 2009, after almost 50 years of Gib’s participation in the international event, Miss Gibraltar Kaiane Aldorino was crowned Miss World.
This year’s pageant will be produced by Santos Productions for the Ministry of Culture, and will be staged at the Alameda Open Air Theatre.
Contenders will line up for the classic event that will see the winner receive a £2,000 cash prize, a £3,500 clothing allowance and the golden ticket to represent Gib at the Miss World contest.
The show promises to be a great night’s entertainment. International acts to grace the show with their presence in the past have included Spanish guitarist Paco de Lucia, Elaine Paige and Michael Bentine, as well as pop stars Whigfield and Sean Maguire.
