A MECHANIC accused of planting an explosive device in the headrest of his ex-wife’s car in Elche will remain in jail.
The man appeared in the Court of Violence Against Women requesting bail but his appeal was dismissed.
The court said the man must remain in jail following the evidence of his former wife and because in his garage workshop an identical car to that of his ex-wife’s was found which also had the headrest removed.
Ammunition was also found with the man accused of having the tools and knowledge to rig up the small bomb within the headrest and set it to explode when the vehicle was turned on.
The incident occurred in November 2014 when the woman got inside her vehicle, parked in Calle Antonio Pascual Quiles in the city. The small explosion within the headrest caused mild wounds to her neck and head and she was treated at the Vinalopo Hospital. Her former partner was arrested later the same day accused of setting up the device.
