AIRPORT NOISE: Those living in the vicinity of Alicante-Elche airport will receive support for soundproofing their homes.

AROUND €562,000 has been designated to soundproof houses within the locality of Alicante-Elche Airport.
Aena said an environmental monitoring committee had approved new materials with acoustic insulation properties, which would improve the quality of life for people living close by, reducing aircraft landing and taking off noise.
In recent months the airport management company has received a total of 3,123 applications for assistance to soundproof buildings affected by their proximity to air traffic. Of those, 2,079 projects have been approved for acoustic improvements and also a payment of €180,000 has been authorised for buildings that have already completed soundproofing works.
As reported earlier this year in the Euro Weekly News, the move is part of the Noise Insulation Plan, aimed at soundproofing a further 500 dwellings in the Alicante-Elche area over the next few months and assess many more for eligibility.
Aena stated it was “committed to demonstrating a high degree of responsibility on the impact of noise on the environment and reconciling the quality of life for residents and workers within the vicinity of airports.”
