Moron air base deal secured by the US

The US military has succeeded in securing a deal with the Spanish government before its election in December. The deal, which was approved by the Spanish cabinet, will allow troops to be permanently stationed at Morón air base.
Three thousand troops are expected to be stationed at the base, reported the Associated Press. The number of US aircraft allowed on the base has also been increased from 14 to 40.
Being stationed at the base has allowed US military personnel to rapidly respond to crises in Africa. Prior to now, the US military had to renew its deal with the Spanish government on an annual basis.
John Kerry is due to sign the deal in Madrid on Monday, June 1.
