PALMA Council launched its war on mosquitoes on Tuesday, announcing a series of preventative measures against the pests at the Can Guidet lake of Ses Fontanelles and Son Sant Joan Airport.
The council’s pest control team will take to the skies in a bid to bite back. “The company in charge of the team not only uses terrestrial means but also helicopters, drones and electrical vehicles against mosquitoes, cockroaches and other animals,” said Health and Consumption councillor, Rosa Llobera.
She explained that this year’s anti-mosquito campaign had started earlier due to increased temperatures speeding up the insects’ reproduction cycle.
