VOLUNTEERS: Civil Protection experts work to clear rubbish from difficult to reach area.
A TEAM of skilled professionals were brought in to help clean the Sierra of Santa Pola after hikers reported the existence of metal rusty cans scattered across the barranco del Sal.Following an inspection of the area with walkers, the Department of Security brought in the Civil Protection experts who have experience working in difficult to reach areas, installing a zip line to remove the bags easily from the site ready for collection.With the help of six volunteers, 500 cans were removed along with other mountain debris in order to prevent fires.
