THE retail industry in the Balearic Islands has registered a 5.3 per cent increase in April, marking the region as having the second highest growth in Spain, only beaten by Cantabria (6.2 per cent).The Balearic figure almost doubled the national average increase, which amounted to 2.9 per cent in the fourth month of the year.The employment rate in the retail industry also grew by 1.9 per cent in April, the third highest increase of the year in Spain, behind Cantabria (2.6 per cent) and Murcia (2.2).
