SEVILLA businessman, Mariano Bellver, 88, has passed on his 943 piece art collection. Having collected his art for more than half of his life, Bellver admits he feels ‘more Andalucian than many Andalucians.’ Paintings, sculptures and furniture occupy his collection and it is estimated to be worth a cool €14 million. After 15 years of legal complications, the successful businessman considered giving up and auctioning his collection. Bellver said: “I don’t want money, I have never sold a painting, but I do want Sevillanos to be able to have this forever. You get more enjoyment out of giving than receiving.”In December 2016, on the day of Bellver’s 90th birthday, the Real Pavilion will house his collection.
