Mother taken in for questioning over death of baby

POLICE in Barcelona have arrested a mother for questioning regarding the death of her two-month-old baby.
The baby was found in a very bad state in Santa Perpetua de Mogoda and medical staff were unable to save the child’s life.
Catalan Mossos d’Esquadra police force stated that a call was received this morning (May 28) and the baby was found in a private home.
Although emergency services doctors did everything they could they were unable to save the baby, and an investigation has been launched to determine what happened.
The mother is said to have tried to take her own life, and has been taken to the Mollet del Valles Hospital in Barcelona where officers are waiting to take a statement.
The mother was alone with her baby before the incident, and investigators said there had been no previous reports of abuse or mistreatment.
