THE QUEEN will take centre stage at the State Opening of Parliament today. In her much anticipated speech, she will formally set out the government’s agenda for the coming session, outlining proposed policies and legislation.Today marks the 64th time she has made the annual address. The event is one of the highlights of the parliamentary year, and it is filled with political significance.It is the only time when all three constituent parts of Parliament – the House of Lords, the House of Commons, and the Sovereign – congregate.Here are some of the top pledges expected to feature in today’s speech:1.
