THE Partido Popular (PP) conservative party has won the elections in the majority of Axarquia and Costa Tropical municipalities, despite haemorrhaging votes.In Almuñecar, the PP conservative party has obtained 35.54 per cent of votes and two more councillors, eight in total, although far from the 11 needed to reach the absolute majority.The PP has also won in Motril with 10 councillors, although losing the majority. It is noteworthy the high rate of abstentions, which has amounted to a significant 43.62 per cent.On the other hand, the PSOE has been crowned winner in Salobreña with nine seats, taking an absolute majority and bringing in a new mayor, Maria Eugenia Rufino.In Velez-Malaga, the PP has won although dropping from 13 councillors to 10.Rincon de la Victoria’s PP party has lost five seats in the council, obtaining only eight, and could face the creation of a coalition lead by left-wing parties.In Nerja, the PP party has also won with 10 councillors but losing two seats. Independent parties Ciudadanos and Podemos have entered the council for the first time.
