Calp acts against infestation

CALP town council is taking stringent measures to combat infestations of the Tiger Mosquito. Environmental technicians are in the process of spraying parks and municipal gardens with repellent. The Tiger Mosquito is a carrier of Dengue Fever and can also potentially pass on Yellow Fever and Encephalitis to humans and Heartworm in pets.
Home owners are requested to take precautions to ensure there are no tempting breeding grounds for the insect on their premises. This means ensuring that water is not left to stagnate in pots, ponds, open drains and puddles.
Municipal authorities are paying particular attention to public areas such as schools and sporting facilities where large numbers of people gather.
A leaflet has been prepared giving information on how to prevent infestation of the Tiger Mosquito, available from the town hall.
