Rosberg wins the Monaco GP

NICO ROSBERG won the Monaco Grand Prix for the third year in a row on Sunday, after a late strategy error demoted Mercedes team mate Lewis Hamilton from first to third behind the Ferrari of Sebastian Vettel.

Although Mercedes still ended up winning F1’s most celebrated event for the third successive season through Nico Rosberg, the team admitted they “screwed up” what should have been Hamilton’s win by pitting the runaway race leader under the Safety Car with 13 laps to go.

Starting from pole, Hamilton had dominated proceedings up until lap 64, when the safety car was deployed following a heavy shunt for Max Verstappen.

Max Verstappen has been handed a five-place grid penalty for the Canadian GP after making contact with Romain Grosjean.
