RONDA’S Museo Romantico, which will display British artists’ work, is due to open within the next few months.
Housed at the headquarters of the Artists’ Circle, an early 20th century building in the town, the museum will take over a 700-square-metre hall and display 75 19th century Spanish scenes by artists including Edwin Long, John Phillip, Robert Kemm and John Bagnold Burgess from a collection belonging to Aurora Marin Samos.
During an event to announce the museum, Francisco Oblaré, vice-president of Malaga Provincial Council, said that Ronda was the ideal place for the exhibition as it was one of the favourite destinations of 19th century travellers.
Meanwhile provincial Culture delegate, Juan Jesus Bernal, explained that the council would be loaning pieces for temporary exhibitions to be held alongside the permanent display.
