Summer holidays for shoe workers confirmed

THE footwear sector has reached an agreement for the summer holiday period in Elche, Elda and Villena for this year.
The Valencian Association of the Shoe, the Spanish Association of Footwear Components and unions CCOO and UGT have signed an agreement to serve as a basis to companies, although dates are not mandatory and are open to change.
The holiday period to enjoy during the year for employers and workers in the footwear industry is 30 calendar days that are distributed differently depending on the area.
Elche and Valle de Elda has agreed 30 days of leave that should commence in every company on August 1. However, the agreement does reflect that those companies who have orders to meet may, “by mutual agreement,” reduce the holiday time or carry it over.
Villena companies have established a different schedule with holidays running from July 20 to August 2, and September 4-13.
The meeting between employers and unions has agreed to pay 30 days holiday to workers.
