Marbella prepares for its big week

FREE concerts by David Bustamente and Antonio Orozco are the highlights of Marbella’s San Bernabe fair, the programme of which has been presented this week.
Running from June 8 to 14, the fair will include many new activities and will this year be held at a new fairground, with buses leaving every 20 minutes.

Festivities councillor Diego Lopez presented the programme, accompanied by the Party Queens and Maids of Honour, and explained that festivities will begin on May 31 with the Romeria de San Bernabe pilgrimage, where churros and chocolate will be handed out before a procession to the shrine in Nagueles where a mass will be held.
The main fair will begin at 10pm on June at Parque Francisco Cuevas Blanco, where the mayor will switch on the fairground lights, local Michelin chef Dani Garcia will give an opening speech and the queens and maids of honour will be crowned before a firework display is held from El Faro beach.

June 9 will be the Dia del Niño (Children’s Day) with discounts on rides and a children’s party at the fairground.
Then on June 10, David Bustamante will be giving his free concert, followed two days later by another from Antonio Orozco.
Thursday June 11, the day of Marbella’s patron saint, will see religious ceremonies held and a procession in honour of San Bernabe.
On the Saturday, competitions and dance shows will be held at the fairground and a bullfight starring David Galan, Pedro Gutierrez and Javier Orozco is scheduled for the Sunday.
